The developer and manager of an 117-unit apartment complex in Clifton say the new residences are getting a warm reception from the community. Gaslight Property's Whitfield development at 3240 Whitfield Ave. is the Clifton-based company's first new residential construction project since opening in 1991, said chief executive Dave Taylor. It also is the first new multi-building apartment complex in Clifton's Gaslight District in more than 30 years.
A new parking garage will add 500 spaces in the urban core. The city of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Center City Development Corp. opened the Eighth and Sycamore garage at midnight on Monday, Aug. 1 in anticipation of traffic as commuters make their way to work. The seven-story garage is part of a $52 million mixed-use development that will include a 17-story apartment tower developed by North American Properties and 8,000 square feet of street-level retail space that will be owned by 3CDC.
A new affordable housing community for female veterans is coming to North College Hill. The $1.6 million Annabelle’s Place development will be built on 3.8 acres at 2080 W. Galbraith Road and will include two, one-story buildings of 4,000 square feet. The development will house 12 efficiency-style furnished apartments with patios, and two of the units will have an additional bedroom for veterans who have children. There will also be indoor and outdoor common space, community rooms and laundry facilities.
Gardner Capital Development has been awarded a reservation of affordable housing tax credits from the Ohio Housing Finance Agency to develop 50 independent senior residences in the Roselawn community of Cincinnati. This $11 million community will include 50 energy efficient, one- and two-bedroom apartments for seniors age 55 and older.
A more than 300-home community is coming to the West Side. Welsh Development Co. started site work on Whitewater Trails, a single-family home development on 110 acres in the city of Harrison. Megan Adams, land development manager, said the company decided to start the subdivision to build on activity at Parks of Whitewater. “We’ve duplicated Parks across the street because we’ve had so much success there,” Adams told me. Parks of Whitewater is a 344-home development off New Haven Road, just south of the planned Whitewater Trails. Adams said the last phase of Parks is expected to be finished this year.
The township’s first multipurpose outdoor recreation space is ready to host soccer games, baseball games and children and adults of all ages. Miami Township West Community Park is finished and open to the community. The township is hosting a dedication ceremony to celebrate the opening of the park at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 21, at the park, 4063 East Miami River Road, just down the street from the Three Rivers Educational Campus. “It’s ready to go,” Township Trustee Paul Beck said. “Miami Township has never had its own recreation area or park, except for the small ball field next to the township building on Shady Lane.”
