Project Highlight

Bayer Becker's ability to incorporate new design principles into existing urban spaces was evident in the Cincinnati Drop Inn Center's move from West 12th street near Washington Park to the former site of the Butternut Bread factory in Queensgate.

Working with the City of Cincinnati and representatives from the Drop Inn Center, Bayer Becker was able to find solutions that fit the specific needs of the facility operator and its users.  The parcel was subdivided to keep improvements out of the flood plain, existing utilities were utilized to provide service for the new building, and a surface detention basin was also part of the design.  In addition, Bayer Becker designed an interior and exterior courtyard that provides both private and public spaces for residents.

To ensure quality, Bayer Becker takes an interdisciplinary approach to the arrangement, appearance, and design where creativity meets functionality in all our government and municipal development projects.

The new site fro the David & Rebecca Barron Center for Men is three times larger than the former site, sizing in at more than 79,000-square-feet. This shelter is the third and final new shelter in a five-facility Homeless to Homes Plan. The shelter cost $17.3 million and is the largest homeless shelter in the area.

Through interdisciplinary collaboration, Bayer Becker creates places that improve the quality of urban, ecological, and social environments.
