Project Highlight

Bayer Becker provided surveying, civil engineering and landscape architecture services to improve the streetscape along Elm Street and at the pedestrian entries into the historic building. The goal was to integrate this iconic, historic building into the surrounding neighborhood, improving the aesthetic appeal to visitors, and paying homage to recent improvements in Washington Park.

The improvements include replacing the deteriorated pavement with new granite pavers and exposed aggregate concrete, replacing street lights, moving the accessible entrance into the building which allowed for the removal of the accessible ramp and replacing it with granite steps, replacing deteriorating trees with new trees with vertical habits to frame key elements on the façade, and adding site lighting in the form of pedestrian poles, illuminated handrails and tree up-lights.

In addition, Bayer Becker designed the new loading facilities at the back of house, upgraded existing utility services that were not functioning properly, and studied paths from the parking garage to the main entrance to Music Hall.
