“I have rarely been involved in such a complex project that was completed with so few construction issues or complaint calls from affected property owners, demonstrating the quality of the plans. It has been a pleasure working with Bayer Becker’s knowledgeable and professional staff. Bayer Becker has proven their ability to a design complex transportation solution. I look forward to working with them in the future.”
Gary Moore - Boone County Judge Executive
Boone County Fiscal Court turned to Bayer Becker for a design consulting solution for their complex, economically important, multimillion dollar project (approximately $13 million construction cost) which consisted of widening 1.6 miles of roadway to a five lane section and included four signalized intersections and 34 driveway reconstructions. The roadway serves one of the largest industrial parks in the Interstate 75 corridor and is a significant employment base for the region, making traffic with a large percentage of trucks, a significant design consideration. In addition to the roadway widening, the project also included improving the existing roadway profile, an ADA compliant sidewalk/multi-use path, improved traffic capacity and access management, and additional traffic signalization at various intersections along the corridor.
Bayer Becker was responsible for all design and permitting aspects of the project and provided project management and professional engineering design services including field surveying, roadway design, hydraulics and hydrology, right of way plans, retaining wall design, detention design, and maintenance of traffic planning. As the lead consultant, Bayer Becker selected, contracted with and coordinated the efforts of sub consultants responsible for the traffic engineering, environmental studies, geotechnical engineering, and right of way negotiations.
Bayer Becker’s years of experience with complex projects proved crucial for the extensive coordination that was required throughout the design of this project. The numerous agencies involved included the City of Florence, Boone County, Kenton County, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and Division of Water, three water service agencies, two sanitary agencies, railroad and gas, electric, and cable service agencies. Bayer Becker also worked closely with the property owners along the corridor to ensure adequate access was provided throughout construction and permanently realized with the completion of the project.
Construction of the Phase One Industrial Road Reconstruction Project was completed on schedule and without significant unanticipated issues. Overall, Bayer Becker’s design transformed Industrial Road into a safe, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing thoroughfare, not only for vehicular traffic, but for all modes of transportation.
Bayer Becker is proud to add Industrial Road to our extensive roadway infrastructure portfolio. Feel free to ask about others, we’ll be happy to share more.
