Project Highlight
Bayer Becker was honored to donate design services on the Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Fields in Fairfield. The project, which is a tribute to Joe Nuxhall's belief that everyone should be able to play baseball, includes 2 lighted baseball fields, handicap accessible restrooms, lockers with shower facilities, covered dugouts and electronic scoreboards. The field is made of a rubberized surface so people of all abilities can play baseball. The project was fast tracked, reaching completion in only seven months, with many volunteers and companies, including Bayer Becker, donating their services and time.
Site engineering and grading for the project were very important. Because of the existing subsurface material, the site’s storm sewer was tied into four drywells systems, which Bayer Becker designed to help with runoff. Bayer Becker also provided grading on the site to allow for stadium style grandstands and access ramps. Bayer Becker’s experience with the City of Fairfield and knowledge of their regulations helped keep the project on track, ensuring Joe Nuxhall's goal would be reached.
