Project Highlight
Bayer Becker’s team provided a comprehensive range of services, including surveying, civil engineering, bid management, and construction observation, for the water main replacement and street reconstruction project in Ft. Mitchell, KY. The Northern Kentucky Water District (NKWD) and the City of Ft. Mitchell engaged Bayer Becker as their design consultant to replace the existing 6-inch water main along Ridge Rd and West Orchard Rd. The project involved the construction of 1,890 linear feet of new 6-inch and 8-inch PVC water main, in addition to new storm sewer and sidewalks, curbs, and pavement.
Bayer Becker’s approach was highly coordinated, enabling NKWD and the City of Ft. Mitchell to optimize the timing of the project and minimize the impact on the community. Our services began with a detailed survey, which produced a comprehensive base map that documented all relevant topographic features, existing utilities, property boundaries, and easements. The project posed a significant challenge in terms of fitting the new main with existing and proposed utilities. Nevertheless, our team was able to meet the design constraints while minimizing the impact on the existing roadway improvements. Through close coordination with NKWD, we selected an alignment that satisfied the constraints of the project and created detailed construction drawings. Once the new main was constructed, the service was migrated to the new main, and the old main was abandoned. Furthermore, we provided bid phase activities with cost estimates and recommendations to the clients, followed by construction observation services through project completion.
