Project Highlight
With Independence, Kentucky having been named one of the fastest growing cities in the nation by Forbes magazine, Bayer Becker’s was excited to provide civil engineering and project management services for Independence Square. With previous experience working in the area, Toebben looked to Bayer Becker for multi-discipline design expertise on their retail project located at the intersection of new Kentucky 17 and the newly relocated Harris Pike that will feature anchor stores Aldi Grocery Store and the Dollar Tree.
Storm water management was a key design element for the project. Bayer Becker had previously designed a detention basin for the site, and worked to make sure that the existing basin would fit with the site plan. With the site being located in the center of Independence’s commercial district, Bayer Becker also coordinated with local utilities to ensure a ride off of KY-17. The retail center is expected to open in the fall of 2015.
