Project Highlight
Bayer Becker’s team provided surveying and engineering services for the Bluebird Goldfinch Water Main Replacement project. This included the replacement of 10,000 linear feet of 6” water mains along Bluebird, Goldfinch, Woodlark, Tanager, Willet, Ptarmigan, Goldcrest and Kinglet Drive in West Chester Township. The old mains were subject to breaks, which caused service interruptions. Bayer Becker was able to meet the schedule demands for SCIP grant funding and minimize project impact on the community.
During design, our team followed Butler County Water and Sewer (BCWS) water specifications and ODOT specifications for roadway restoration. At Butler County’s request, the design team used special details to connect new mains with the old system and at dead ends, provided branch pipe stubs to better facilitate future pipe improvement connections and taps. Additionally, the new work was required to be performed in the right-of-way or easements to avoid damage to private property. This was an established neighborhood with landscaping, driveway aprons, and other features. The survey team worked closely with property owners and the County to identify the best possible project alignment in order to minimize impacts on private property.
