Project Highlight
Fairfield Freshman School first opened its doors in 1951. The needs of students, faculty, and staff have changed drastically since then, so voters approved a bond that provided for the construction of a brand new building adjacent to the Fairfield High School on Holden Boulevard.
Bayer Becker teamed up with SHP Leading Design, as architect, to bring the school into the 21st Century. Design on Fairfield’s Freshman School coincided with two additional school buildings being built in Fairfield. Bayer Becker provided site design and land surveying services for the building that saw its first class of students in the 2017-2018 school year.
This site presented interesting site design opportunities. Bayer Becker’s civil engineering team was able to maximize the use of the regional detention basin. This allowed the team to minimize the onsite detention basin at the Freshman School site and keep the project under budget.
